(1) Baylor vs. (16) NC Central/St. Peter’s

(8) Rutgers vs. (9) Xavier

(4) Oregon vs. (13) Stephen F. Austin

(5) Butler vs. (12) Richmond/Cincinnati

(6) Iowa vs. (11) Virginia

(3) Auburn vs. (14) Wright State

(7) Houston vs. (10) USC

(2) Maryland vs. (15) UC Irvine

Once thought to be in big trouble with regard to making the NCAA Tournament, Xavier currently holds a single-digit seed in this projection. The Musketeers have been playing with renewed energy over the past few weeks. Tyrique Jones is the one leading the way but the entire team is displaying a “never quit” attitude. Xavier has won four of its last five to move past the majority of the bubble. Not many “on-the-fence” teams are winning games right now and those that are deserved to be rewarded.

The same can also be said about Richmond. The Spiders might not boast a ton of high-quality wins but they are 19-6 (9-3 A10) on the season and are very dangerous when healthy. Grant Golden is an underrated star while Jacob Gilyard and Blake Francis form a dynamic backcourt. Richmond has won four straight and is trending in the right direction as a team sitting close to the projected cutline.
