Virginia Tech Hokies – Sell

Virginia Tech even being on this list speaks volumes of the tremendous job new head coach Mike Young has done. I may be the only one who thinks the Hokies have a chance to make the NCAA tournament, but the chance is there based upon their remaining schedule and the soft bubble this year.

The Hokies were not picked by any outlet to do anything of significance this year. Then they started out the season 5-0 with a win over Michigan State in Maui and they were off to the races. Virginia Tech would have been in a better position to make the tournament had it not been for the four-game losing streak in the middle of the season. If they had avoided those losses the resume would have been worthy of getting a tournament bid. Losing to Boston College, Miami and Georgia Tech are all losses that a bubble team cannot take. In fact outside of Michigan State and the win at Syracuse, the Hokies have not capitalized on any of the opportunities they have had to improve their resume.

That may change in the upcoming weeks as the Hokies who have been playing better of late have some huge opportunities still left on the schedule. Virginia Tech is currently 2-5 in quad 1 and still has games at Duke, Louisville and Notre Dame as well as home games against Clemson and Virginia. The Hokies are going to have a chance to win some games and improve their NET ranking of 75. However, the road games are not favorable and daunting task for any team. The Hokies are going to be in the NIT, which considering where they started is a great year.
