(7) BYU vs. (10) Rutgers

(2) Florida State vs. (15) UC Irvine

Creighton is quietly knocking on the door of potentially joining the group of No. 2 seeds. The Bluejays have won eight of their last nine games while emerging as a legitimate contender to win the Big East this season. They have recently secured road wins over Seton Hall and Marquette while soaring up seed lines. Creighton’s defense is vastly improved from earlier in the season and it still boasts an elite-level offense. Ty-Shon Alexander is a two-way superstar and Marcus Zegarowski is the caliber of guard that everyone should know. Those two form a spectacular duo with plenty of strong pieces around them.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, I am beginning to become seriously concerned about Rutgers’ tournament hopes. The Scarlet Knights are still safely on the right side of the cutline but they are sliding in the wrong direction. They have dropped four of their last six games with one of those wins coming at home over Northwestern (not exactly a resume-booster). Rutgers doesn’t boast great metrics and is just 3-7 in Q1 with a Q3 loss. It finishes with three of four on the road and the only home game comes against Maryland.
