The Charlotte Wolf Pack

Duo: Cody Martin and Caleb Martin

NBA team: Charlotte Hornets

College team: Nevada Wolf Pack, 2017-18, 2018-19

Best NCAA Tournament finish: Sweet 16

Former Nevada Wolf Pack stars Cody and Caleb Martin are another set of recent college teammates who followed each other to the same NBA franchise.

The twin small forwards joined forces when the Charlotte Hornets signed Caleb after drafting Cody with the No. 36 overall pick in 2019. Through 38 appearances, Cody Martin is averaging 4.5 points in roughly 16 minutes per game, while Caleb Martin has played in just a handful of contests.

In college, the Martins played two seasons at NC State before transferring to Nevada for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons. Nevada finished atop the Mountain West Conference’s regular-season standings during both of those seasons.

Over two years at Nevada, Cody Martin averaged 13.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.5 steals per game, according to Sports Reference. Caleb Martin added 19.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game.

The twins helped put Nevada on the college basketball map in 2017-18 when they earned a No. 7 seed in the NCAA Tournament and knocked off No. 2 seed Cincinnati en route to the Sweet 16. They combined for 35 points in a miraculous 22-point comeback to topple Cincinnati.

Caleb Martin took home Mountain West Conference player of the year honors that season, while Cody Martin was named the conference’s defensive player of the year.

In 2018-19, Caleb Martin was voted a preseason All-American by the Associated Press, and Nevada debuted as the preseason No. 7 team in the AP poll. But the Wolf Pack stumbled into the tournament as a No. 7 seed again and lost in the first round.
