Key players for the Big South Basketball Tournament

JR Hunter Hale – Winthrop

2019-20 Stats: 13.3 ppg 3.3 rpg 1.7 apg

Winthrop’s leading scorer, Hunter Hale, is not one of the top scorers in the league. Winthrop possesses a lot of depth and offensive weapons, and Hale has established himself as a very productive player and great leader. He can step up and lead his Eagles to important wins in this tournament.

JR Carlik Jones – Radford

2019-20 Stats: 19.6 ppg 5.0 rpg 5.5 apg

A season ago, Carlik Jones established himself as one of the best guards in the Big South. He is very versatile and a great shooter. He shoots 48.8% from the field. He is the type of player that needs the ball in his hands when the game comes down to the wire. Jones could be the difference-maker in this tournament.

SO Jose Perez – Gardner Webb

2019-20 Stats: 15.2 ppg 6.5 rpg 4.2 apg

Jose Perez has had an incredible season for the Bulldogs. Last season, he was selected to the Big South Basketball All-Freshman Team. The graduation and departure of David Efianayi from last year’s NCAA Tournament team meant that someone needed to step up this year. Perez has done just that, and if he gets hot in the conference tournament, Gardner Webb might surprise and take out one of the league favorites.

SR Jermaine Marrow – Hampton

2019-20 Stats: 24.3 ppg 3.3 rpg 6.5 apg

A season ago, Jermaine Marrow was selected to the Big South All-Conference First Team. He has followed up his incredible season from a year by proving to be the most dominant scorer in the league. When trying to search for a player that could put his team on his back and win the Big South Basketball Tournament, Marrow is the guy.
