28) Ivy League

March 14-15

I’ll admit it, I wish the Ivy League would go back to awarding the auto-bid to the regular-season champion. The addition of a conference tournament seemed like a good idea at the time, but limiting it to just four teams seems like more of a gimmick than a true attempt at having an exciting event. Three games, that is all you will get to watch, and only two of them are likely to be any good. If they want to be unique, the Ivy League should go back to being unique in a logical way.

27) Big West Conference

March 12-14

Usually, the Big West is one of the more underrated conference tournaments, but this year seems like yet another opportunity for UC Irvine to tune-up before heading to the Big Dance. Despite all the talent on teams like CSU Northridge, Hawaii and UC Santa Barbara, the Anteaters still have a 4.5 game lead in the standings, only New Mexico State and San Diego State have bigger leads over the second-place teams. So watch if you must, but it is unlikely that we will see another CSU Fullerton type run this year.

26) Big South Conference

March 3, 5, 6, 8

This is one of the few conference tournament where the first few rounds has more promise for excitement than the later rounds. With just three games separating the 4-seed from the 11-seed, the battles for the opportunity to take on Radford and Winthrop will be incredibly fun. With that said, everyone should be rooting for those two teams to meet in the championship. Otherwise, the best game may be Longwood vs Hampton.

25) Atlantic Sun Conference

March 3, 5, 8

One of two things will happen in this conference tournament: either Liberty will win or they will lose a close one to Lipscomb or North Florida. Either way, it really isn’t worth watching the first few rounds. Whether you are a Liberty fan or not, the only games that will really be worth watching are ones involving the Flames, and Bill Walton is not going to be there to add the appropriate color to the commentary.
