NCAA Basketball: Ranking all 32 conference tournaments for 2019-20
By Connor Hope
24) Southland Conference
March 11-14
There is a very strong possibility that we have been arguing over Stephen F. Austin’s at-large resume for absolutely nothing. Like the other conferences already names, the Southland Conference has a heavy favorite and no likely bid steal opportunity. However, unlike the other favorites, Stephen F Austin losing to Nicholls or Abilene Christian in the Championship would certainly stir the pot. I for one want to see how the committee handles the situation that could lead to a two-bid Southland.
23) Summit League
March 7-10
No. Mike Daum is no longer stepping on the court to make the Summit League Tournament an exciting affair. However, that does not mean that the event will be any less competitive. In fact, it might make the games a little bit more intriguing, as fans will no longer be rooting for Daum to make the tournament. The teams appear to be closer at the top, which should lead to some tight games.
22) Horizon League
March 3, 5, 9, 10
I enjoy watching Wright State win at home as much as the next guy, but this conference tournament isn’t likely to heat up until it moves to Indianapolis. Even then, however, the Raiders should be a relatively heavy favorite to win. If Northern Kentucky loses before the championships, I am not sure who will challenge the Raiders.
21) Patriot League
March 3, 5, 8, 11
This is where the conference tournaments really start to get interesting. The Patriot League is around the same caliber as the Horizon, but it has a smaller gap between the first seeded Colgate Raiders and the ninth-seeded Loyola Greyhounds, than the difference between Wright State and the bottom of its conference. This is one of the leagues that promises to leave the 1-seed wishing they played in an easier league.
