Villanova Basketball: 2019-20 takeaways from major win over Seton Hall
Short, but, just at the center position
When a team does not have anybody on their roster listed as a center, you know it is a problem. When said team plays 6 foot 9, 232 pound Jeremiah Robinson-Earl at center for the entire 40 minutes of the game, you know it is a bigger problem.
It was fortunate for Villanova that Romaro Gill is not an offensive option for Seton Hall and he was unable to take advantage of his 7 foot 2, 255-pound body.
The positive that Villanova has, is that their frontcourt consists of long athletic players. Against Seton Hall, they were able to use their height and length to interchange players at the swingman position to capitalize on the size mismatch depending on who was on the court.
With Saddiq Bey, Jermaine Samuels, and Justin Moore all having comparable skill sets, Jay Wright was able to dictate which mismatch he wanted to exploit, despite Seton Hall having the two tallest players on the court at times.
The record crowd of just under 17,000 sat and witnessed the home players get posted up a couple of feet extended from the high block and fall victim to a number of turn around jumpers.
