NCAA Basketball: San Diego State, Baylor exposed and more takeaways

4) Yes, Creighton is that good
I also wrote a few weeks ago about how Creighton hadn’t been getting enough recognition for how good they are. Some of that recognition has come, but the Bluejays are no longer a Final Four dark horse – they should be one of the handful of Final Four favorites.
Creighton is 12-3 over the last two months with their only losses coming on the road against Georgetown, Providence, and St. John’s. The Bluejays simply had off games against the Hoyas and the Red Storm, and there’s no shame in losing to Providence given how hot the Friars have been.
They’ve also beaten everyone in the Big East during this stretch, which culminated in them claiming a share of the conference regular-season title on Saturday. After the game, head coach Greg McDermott praised his team’s effort during this stretch.
"“Did we think it was possible? We knew it was going to be hard. Did we know the league was going to be this good? Probably not at that time, so to be sitting in this situation is incredible. When a group of people come together and they believe in each other and they have each other’s back, and when they don’t care who gets the credit, there are a lot of things that are possible.”"
Creighton’s offense has always been great and they shoot as well as anyone in the country. But when they play defense as well as they have over the last two months, they can be elite.
That play on both ends will bode well for them in the NCAA Tournament and may very well lead them to a Final Four berth.
