15. Bohannon signs off with shoes in Hilton. (Dec. 12th)

Iowa vs. Iowa State is one of the most underrated rivalries in college basketball. The Cy-Hawk goes back several years and is always one of the best games to monitor. For Jordan Bohannon, he wanted to leave his mark on the rivalry and he did just that in his final game of the season. The guard posted 12 points while helping guide Iowa to a dominating win over Iowa State at Hilton Coliseum. When the final buzzer sounded, Bohannon signed his shoes and left them on the rival’s court.

“To ISU: Thanks for the Memz.” What a move.

16. Gonzaga sweeps the Pac-12. (Dec. 14th)

Gonzaga typically plays a difficult non-conference schedule, even though most fans do not believe this. Once again, the Bulldogs began this season with a difficult slate ahead that included the Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament, a home matchup with North Carolina, and a pair of road games against Washington and Arizona.

On Dec. 14th, Gonzaga faced that last matchup and came away victorious in Tucson. This victory marked the sweep of the presumed top three of the Pac-12 considering the Bulldogs had already beaten Oregon at a neutral site and Washington on the road.

In the end, Gonzaga’s level of play during its non-conference schedule was overblown. Washington struggled mightily once in conference play and North Carolina was nowhere near as good as people thought it would be. Nonetheless, Zaga’s season sweep of the expected top three in the Pac-12 was a big deal mid-December.

The Bulldogs finished the season at 31-2, though, so this season was special no matter how you look at it.
