Big Ten Basketball: Power rankings for end of 2019-20 season
By Adam Childs
MVP – Trayce Jackson-Davis
The Hoosiers lost Romeo Langford and Juwan Morgan off a team that just missed the NCAA tournament in 2019 but had Devonte Green returning. They also had this freshman coming in named Trayce Jackson-Davis and he made his presence felt right away.
Jackson-Davis became one of the best freshmen not only in the Big Ten but also in the country. He was one of the most efficient players in the whole country for all players and seemed to be getting double-doubles every game. Jackson-Davis would average 13.5 points per game along with 8.4 rebounds. He was very effective even though he wasn’t an outside threat at all. He would shoot 56.6% from the floor and was the guy that made the Hoosiers offense click.
Best Moment – Beating Florida State 80-64
Indiana raced out to a 7-0 record in 2019-20 but wasn’t really challenged until they played Florida State on December 3rd in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. The Seminoles were favored and would go on to win the ACC over teams such as Duke and Virginia.
On this night in Bloomington, though, the Hoosiers were definitely the better team. After making up an early deficit, Indiana would take an 11 point lead into halftime and stayed in control throughout the second half to blow away the Seminoles. Devonte Green scored a career-high 30 points to lad lead the way and Jackson-Davis added 15. It was the best game of the season for the Hoosiers in which they had a lot of ranked wins.
