MVP – Geo Baker

Ron Harper Jr.might have been the leading scorer for the Scarlet Knights, but Geo Baker was the most important player for Rutgers. Baker did struggle from deep this year shooting under 30% but when he got going, Rutgers was at their best.

Backer would average 10.9 points per game and would dish out 3.5 assists per game. Baker’s best game was his 22 point effort in Rutgers early win over Wisconsin. He would also score 25 in a win against Northwestern but his big game against the Badgers came in a bigger spot. Baker was just a Junior this year and will probably come back for his senior year. It could be a breakthrough year for the Scarlet Knights if he can come back and be the top guy again.

Best Moment – Beating Seton Hall 68-48

Rutgers was 7-3 on the year and coming off a big win against Wisconsin, but there were still doubts on how good they really were when they hosted Myles Powell and Seton Hall at the RAC. Any questions on if Rutgers could compete were quickly erased as the Scarlet Knights dominated the Pirates.

Rutgers would score the first 14 points on the game and ran away with it from there. Unfortunately, Powell left the game with a concussion, but it probably wouldn’t have mattered as Rutgers was just that much better on this night. The Scarlet Knights showed the country that they were for real and it would springboard them into getting ranked and would have received a berth to the NCAA tournament also.
