NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Top early commits from the 2021 class
Jerrell Colbert – Cornerstone Christian (TX)
C | 6-foot-9 | 210 lbs | Committed to LSU
No. 46 in Rivals150 | No. 31 in Top247
LSU’s recruiting had been consistently underrated prior to the arrival of head coach Will Wade but it has absolutely exploded under his leadership. Coach Wade is an absolute monster on the recruiting trail as he seems to always be able to land a star or two in each class.
He immediately stepped into the head coaching role at LSU with a bang by nailing Tremont Waters as part of the No. 17 overall 2017 class. Since then, he has secured the No. 4 class in 2018, No. 32 in 2019, and No. 6 in 2020 (so far). He is incredible.
It is also vital to discuss that he is continuing to thrive with one of the best early commits from the 2021 class in Jerrell Colbert. At 6-foot-9 out of San Antonio, Colbert fits the mold of a modern big man. He runs the floor extremely well, can score both inside and out, boasts some playmaking skills, and is a terror as a shot-blocker on the other end.
Colbert looks to be a two-way starter from the onset of his career with LSU. He needs to add some weight to his frame still but there is plenty of time for that development to occur. Colbert is a recent commit (early March) and is one of the biggest in 2021 so far.
