NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Top early commits from the 2021 class
Jackson Grant – Olympia H.S. (WA)
C | 6-foot-9 | 205 lbs | Committed to Washington
No. 60 in Rivals150 | No. 73 in Top247
The 2019-20 season was rather disappointing for Washington despite snagging an elite group of freshmen to lead the way. With that said, though, every other season under head coach Mike Hopkins had been at least a mild success before that. As a result, hope should still be high for a potential surge in the future for the Huskies.
With 6-foot-9 frontcourt piece Jackson Grant committed for the future, it appears as though UW is still not having any issues bringing in talent.
An in-state product held in high regard by recruiting services, Grant committed to play for Washington in early November. He brings quality size to the frontcourt and the versatility needed to be a two-way player in Coach Hopkins’ system. On the offensive end of the floor, Grant can knock down the open jump shot while also taking advantage of mismatches on the block.
Grant also uses his size and quickness well on the defensive end. Considering Coach Hopkins comes from the tree of Jim Boeheim, Washington utilizes a zone defense that can be stifling. Grant should be a solid fit within that scheming.
Grant represents the start of the future for Washington basketball. He is currently the lone commit for the program in either the 2020 or 2021 class as he will be a piece to build around. His development will be key in pushing the Huskies to success in a few years.
