2020-21 Outlook

There is plenty for Sun Devil fans to be excited about for next season. The first thing is that they only have two players graduating this year, Mickey Mitchell and Rob Edwards. Edwards will be tough to replace, but they have a few options available to replace him in Jaelen House, Caleb Christopher, Elias Valtonen, and Micah Burno. They are all younger players who could end up with carving out a role next year.

They have also already secured the 34th rated freshman in next year’s class, Marcus Bagley, and are still in the running to sign 5-star recruit Josh Christopher. Bagley could quickly slide into the starting lineup next season and Christopher would be a great replacement for Edwards.

Another thing working in their favor is that while their team should continue to improve now that most of the team has had a year to play together regularly and develop together, teams like Oregon and Arizona are going to lose quite a few key players. That should clear a path for a strong ASU team to make a run at their first Pac-12 title.

I fully expect the Sun Devils to earn a 3rd (should be 4th) consecutive NCAA tournament bid next year and I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if they did it as a 5 seed or better.
