14. Kansas Jayhawks (4 commits)

Average Class Ranking: 14.0

It should come as no surprise to see that Kansas is on this list. The Jayhawks are a true blueblood program and are always among the nation’s best with regard to just about everything. Head coach Bill Self puts out a championship-contending roster every single year and his strong work on the recruiting trail is a major reason for this. While Kansas has secured its fair share of one-and-done players, it has also been successful with player development.

Kansas’ four commits from the 2020 class so far represent a bit of a mix of those two philosophies. Starting with the potential immediate stars, Bryce Thompson is a five-star combo guard out of Oklahoma. He brings plenty of size at 6-foot-5, can score in a variety of ways at all three levels, and understands when to create for himself and when to dish to others. With his athleticism and size, Thompson could also develop into a strong multipositional defender.

Thompson will surely crack the rotation right away next season and it is reasonable to think that JUCO transfer Tyon Grant-Foster will do the same. Grant-Foster is a 6-foot-7 wing from Indian Hills C.C. that can pretty much do it all. He brings elite-level size to his position and can be a difference-making defender as a result. He also uses his athleticism to run the floor and finish at the rim consistently.

This class also features a pair of other high school commits in Gethro Muscadin and Latrell Jossell. These are both more long-term plays for the program but could see the floor immediately. Muscadin is a 6-foot-10 forward ranked at No. 155/134 in the class that is an excellent athlete as a rim-runner. He plays with great energy as well and that puts him in great positions as a rebounder.

Jossell rounds out this group as an underrated piece at No. 340/NR in recruiting rankings. He is an excellent attacker off the dribble, makes superb reads as a passer, and plays with an edge that is always valuable. This is not a piece to simply overlook as the lowest-rated headed to Lawrence.
