NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Analyzing top 2020 classes prior to spring
11. Texas Tech Red Raiders (3 commits)
Average Class Ranking: 11.0
Texas Tech has emerged as a true national power under the leadership of head coach Chris Beard. He has quickly transformed the program since taking over in just about every single way. The Red Raiders are performing at a high level on the floor, even making the national championship game in 2019, and have also made a significant splash on the recruiting trail. Texas Tech is losing some talent this offseason but has a strong three-man 2020 class currently committed.
Nimari Burnett (No. 26/31) is the top-rated player in this group as a combo guard capable of either filling it up himself or pushing the offense with his playmaking. It is no secret that he is one of the best players in the entire 2020 class and will likely see a major role with Texas Tech as a freshman as a result. The Red Raiders are likely losing Jahmi’us Ramsey this offseason and Burnett could fill that void.
Additionally, Coach Beard also landed two 6-foot-7 wings in Micah Peavy and Chibuzo Agbo. Peavy is the higher-rated of this pair as the No. 43/33 overall prospect in the class. He could easily slide into a role right away with his athleticism and attacking ability off the dribble. Improving as a shooter will be crucial in his development. Agbo, on the other hand, is ranked at No. 111/82 but should be a high-level defender right away.
