Darius Banks (Sit-out)

G | 6-foot-5 | 220 lbs | One year remaining

Unranked by ESPN and Stadium of sit-out transfers

April 13th Update: There has been no further published news regarding Banks’ transfer recruitment yet. Butler’s interest was announced on March 24th.

Darius Banks announced his intention to transfer from James Madison after the program fired its head coach. As a result, he is now going to be one of the most highly targeted guards in the transfer portal as a sit-one-play-one prospect. Banks averaged 12.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.5 steals per game during this past season, which was his third straight averaging in double-figures as a scorer.

With his elite size at 6-foot-5 and strong scoring ability, Banks has been targeted by a number of high-major programs and some of the best mid-majors as well. Considering he has already played 93 collegiate games (89 starts), he brings plenty of experience as well that many would be eager to add to their backcourts.

Here is the preliminary list of schools interested in adding him for his last year.

Butler is in the market for an experienced guard for the 2021-22 season (assuming Banks would have to sit out this coming year) because of its entire backcourt will be underclassmen for that campaign. He could be a much-needed veteran presence on the court for that campaign.
