Evan Mobley (USC)

C | 6-foot-11 | 205 lbs | No. 2 overall recruit

Evan Mobley was the top-ranked player in this class for a long time and while he no longer holds that claim, he is still clearly an elite prospect worthy of plenty of hype. To put it simply, he boasts all of the skills needed to be a star at the big man spot. Mobley can stretch the floor consistently to the mid-range, features a bevy of moves in the post, can be a reliable interior defender, and cleans the glass tremendous well. He is among the most consistently great performers in the 2020 class and that deserves to be recognized.

Mobley is committed to play at USC and he should fill a starring role in the frontcourt right away. The Trojans are sending Onyeka Okongwu to the NBA this offseason, opening up a slot for this five-star center to arrive and start wreaking havoc on the Pac-12. He is a consensus Top 5 player in this class and will surely be a star from Day 1.

Cade Cunningham (Oklahoma State)

CG | 6-foot-6 | 215 lbs | No. 1 overall recruit

Cade Cunningham is regarded as the best player in the 2020 class by many outlets and looks the part of a future star not only at the collegiate level but in the NBA. He boasts a well-built 6-foot-6 frame for a combo guard that allows him to absolutely dominate in a variety of ways. Cunningham’s body control while driving is among the best in the class and he is remarkably talented as an attacker. His court vision is excellent and he makes strong passes out of difficult situations to open teammates.

It is also important to mention that Cunningham is already a high-level defender capable of covering multiple positions. While there are some areas in which Cunningham can improve (such as 3-point shooting), he can absolutely be a two-way star from the onset of his collegiate career. The same cannot be said about every McDonald’s All-American, even though they are all terrific players.

Cunningham will be heading to Oklahoma State next season, where he will be the driving force to hopefully take the team to the Big Dance. He can fill just about any role asked of him, and it will be exciting to see him lead the way for the Cowboys.

That concludes this overview of the players that were named to the 2020 McDonald’s All-American rosters. While the game was canceled amidst concerns regarding the coronavirus, it is no secret that these players are going to be stars at the collegiate level with their all-around skills and athleticism.
