DJ Steward (Duke)

CG | 6-foot-3 | 165 lbs | No. 24 overall recruit

One of the best pure scorers in the class, DJ Steward can fill it up from all three levels. He brings a solid 6-foot-3 frame to the off-guard position and is unafraid of seeking his own shot. Steward is deadly off the dribble with sensational quickness and a smooth shot from beyond the arc. He creates for himself better than most in the class but can also function in catch-and-shoot situations. He moves without the ball well and can score off movement.

When necessary, Steward can command the offense due to his strong playmaking and solid court vision. He is at his best when being tasked with filling it up offensively but he understands when to get the ball to his teammates as well. Steward is committed to Duke and he could easily be among the favorites to lead the team in scoring next season. That is especially true considering he will be playing alongside a strong lead guard in Jeremy Roach, who is next on this list of McDonald’s All-Americans.

Jeremy Roach (Duke)

PG | 6-foot-2 | 180 lbs | No. 21 overall recruit

Duke’s presumed starting point guard next season will be Jeremy Roach. A 6-foot-2 guard out of Fairfax, VA, Roach is a talented playmaker that creates for others very well. He already boasts a well-built frame and is not afraid to use his strength to aggressively drive to the basket. He takes care of the ball at a high level and is unafraid of finding open teammates either within the flow of an offensive play or as a self-creator off the bounce.

Roach is not an explosive leaper but does a great job driving and kicking. He can also be a reliable shooter so defenses cannot sag off of him. Roach’s playmaking will be crucial in propelling Duke to a strong campaign in 2020-21 but he is also a high-level defender in the backcourt. Roach is pretty close to the total package as a lead guard. He might not boast a “wow” factor but does just about everything well.
