NCAA Basketball: Early tournament games in 2020-21 to get excited about
Gonzaga vs Michigan State at the Orlando Invitational
Gonzaga Basketball is going to be a team of interest all season long. Despite losing three notable seniors in Adman Gilder, Ryan Woolridge, and Killian Tillie the Bulldogs are set to return three starters, which will compose the core of a very good line-up. Forwards Corey Kispert, and Filip Petrusev are projected to be mid to late second-round selections in the 2020 NBA Draft if they were to declare.
To add to the potential NBA players in the starting line-up Mark Few is bringing in a top ten freshman class. Coach Few already has six-seven Julian Strawther and Dominick Harris who have signed their letters of intent. Both players are four-star and ranked around 60th in the recruitment class. The recruit that boosts this impressive class for Gonzaga is the hard commit from Jalen Suggs. The reason he has not signed a letter as of yet is that he is good enough to play college quarterback and good enough to ponder the NBA. The top 10 freshmen will be wearing blue and white at McCarthey Atheltic Center though.
Tom Izzo may not have put together a top-30 recruitment class, but he did manage to sign two players that are four-star and both should start in their first year. Michigan State Basketball will be looking toward 6’3 point guard A.J. Haggard to replace the one notable senior Cassius Winston (19 ppg, 6 apg). In addition, Winston’s pick’roll partner, Xavier Tillman (14 ppg,10 rpg) has chosen to declare for the 2020 NBA Draft after his junior year and is projected to go mid to late second round. Mady Sissoko a top-35 recruit will be the one to fill the void left by Tillman for the next few years in East Lansing.
The unlimited potential of Gonzaga up against the restructuring of Michigan State is something to look forward to as both will be making the 2021 National Tournament.
