Texas Tech Red Raiders

The Texas Tech Red Raiders finished tied for third in the Big 12 with an 18-13 (9-9 Big 12) record despite losing their last five games of the season. They were led by a trio of guards: Jahmi’us Ramsey, Davide Moretti and Kyler Edwards who averaged double figures in points. While those were the leading scorers, Texas Tech was a team last year that had multiple scoring options to go along with them. Chris Clarke is a point-forward who can take the ball off the dribble, score while posting up and rebound efficiently. Terrence Shannon Jr. and TJ Holyfield could give the Red Raiders a boost offensively as well.

The Red Raiders are a season removed from their first-ever Final Four appearance and national championship game. Even though they lost to the Virginia Cavaliers 84-77, the Red Raiders still got to where Jones wants to get to. That is a testament to not only the talent on that team but the coaching job of Chris Beard. The Red Raiders have four-star Combo Guard Nimari Burnett and Small Forwards Micah Peavy and Chibuzo Agbo Jr. in their 2020 class. Burnett and Peavy are ranked in the top-50 nationally.

Kentucky transfer Johnny Juzang has the Red Raiders in his top five according to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein. A Jones-Juzang one-two punch would be a big deal for the Red Raiders 2020-21 roster.

West Virginia Mountaineers

West Virginia was coming off of a down year last season where they finished toward the bottom of the Big 12. In the 2019-20 season, they were another team tied for third in the conference with a 21-10 (9-9 Big 12) record. Led by Oscar Tshiebwe, Derek Culver and Emmitt Matthews Jr., the Mountaineers made their mark scoring in the paint and rebounding. They led the conference in rebounding with 40.5 per game.

Jones to the Mountaineers would be an interesting selection considering Tshiebwe, Culver and Mathews Jr. could all return next season. If that happens, Head Coach Bob Huggins will have a very talented nucleus of players that could lead him to the NCAA Tournament.
