Overall outlook of the season

The expectations for the Wildcats entering the 2019-20 season was to finish as a top 10 team, compete for the Big East title, and make another deep run into the NCAA playoffs. Given the youth (only two juniors in the regular rotation) of the team, Jay Wright coached his team up and they played to their maximum potential with the talent they had; a fixture on Jay Wright’s teams.

Jay Wright has done a phenomenal job at Villanova and has stayed true to his school despite consistent overtures from NBA teams looking to acquire his services. I do not think Jay Wright will leave Villanova unless it is for the head coaching spot on the Philadelphia 76ers. He has built this program himself and turned it into a consistent national title contender. You do not just give that up unless it is for the perfect opportunity.

As mentioned above, Robinson-Earl struggled a bit with consistency throughout the year. Coming from high school, even if you are playing in AAU year-round, the drag of a college basketball season can take its toll on anyone due to the length and physicality of the season. Robinson-Earl may have struggled with that this year but I do not expect it to be a constant stain on his resume.
