NCAA Basketball: Top 10 most watchable teams throughtout 2019-20 season
By Max Hastings
3. Furman Paladins
Losing to 7th seeded Wofford in the first round of the Southern Conference Tournament is probably not the way the Paladins wanted to end their best season (record-wise) in school history, but at least Coach Bob Richey and his squad can hang their hats on the fact that they were one of the most watchable teams in the country.
Although they were unseated at the top spot in my Mid-Season Watchability Rankings, it wasn’t because their play worsened down the stretch. Their balanced inside-out attack on offense continued to produce elite efficiency numbers, finishing the season 26th in Offensive Rating and 10th in Effective FG%. Their defense was still tenacious too, ranking 20th in the nation in Turnovers Forced per game.
Though their season didn’t end the way the Paladins fans had hoped, they can take comfort in knowing four of the five players in their starting lineup will be returning next season. Jordan Lyons, their star playmaker, will unfortunately be the starter that is leaving but I have full confidence that Coach Richey will pick up the pieces and keep his squad producing some of the most successful and watchable basketball in the entire nation.
