NCAA Basketball: 7 pivotal recruiting battles remaining in the 2020 class
William Jeffress
PF | 6-foot-7 | 205 lbs | No. 58 overall
William Jeffress managed to land a spot in the Top 60 of the 2020 recruiting class playing rankings after reclassifying to head to college a year earlier. He made this decision in early February and narrowed his list of potential schools to 10 just a few weeks later. The talented combo forward is not expected to cut his list again before making a decision in the coming weeks and the schools that remain in the running are Baylor, Vanderbilt, Pittsburgh, Northwestern, Penn State, Virginia, Stanford, Notre Dame, Memphis, and Villanova.
There does not appear to be a clear-cut favorite in this recruitment, although there have been more whispers about Pittsburgh than anyone else in the running. Jeffress’s recruitment has been relatively quiet to this point but it was reported on April 9th that he is expecting to make his commitment “in the next couple weeks.” He is a highly intelligent individual who is expected to seek a school that offers strong academics in addition to its basketball program.
With regard to his playing style, Jeffress is a perimeter-oriented forward with a well-built 6-foot-7 frame. He can score at all three levels and boasts a high ceiling on both ends of the floor. He is a very young player for the 2020 class, and while he could be a high-impact contributor right away, he also might need a bit more time before emerging as a star at the collegiate level. Jeffress is at the very least a name to know, though, as his game is only continuing to develop at his young age.
