NCAA Basketball: 7 pivotal recruiting battles remaining in the 2020 class
Joshua Christopher
SG | 6-foot-5 | 215 lbs | No. 10 overall
There does not appear to be a major recruiting battle for Joshua Christopher‘s commitment at this moment. Experts across the country are seemingly united in the belief that the talented 6-foot-5 shooting guard will be heading to Ann Arbor next season to play for Michigan. Head coach Juwan Howard has already done an excellent job on the recruiting trail since taking over the program and adding Christopher to the mix would cap off an absolutely ridiculous 2020 class.
Christopher is ranked as the No. 10 overall player in the class and fits the mold of an immediate go-to scoring threat. He has been heralded as one of the best bucket-getters in high school basketball for the past seasons while gaining a strong following online. He boasts a well-built 6-foot-5 frame and uses his size+strength to consistently get to his spots on the floor. He can score at all three levels and also projects as an elite, multipositional defender for his lone collegiate season.
While it seems very likely that Christopher will be donning the “maize and blue” next season, there are four other finalists in the running for his commitment: Missouri, Arizona State, UCLA, and USC. Of this group, the Sun Devils are probably the biggest threat to the Wolverines and it is possible that they make a serious run at his potential commitment. The Trojans are also a recent addition to his top five so they could be making a push as well.
Michigan should still be regarded as the heavy favorite but those other teams could make this an interesting battle. It’s worth discussing considering how talented Christoper is.
