Brooks Barnhizer – Lafayette, IN

SF | 6-foot-6 | 200 lbs | No. 148 by 247Sports

Brooks Barnhizer is another Midwest wing that Butler has been targeting over the past year. A 6-foot-6 all-around talent that can stuff the stat-sheet, Barnhizer has been steadily rising in recruiting rankings for some time. It is important to mention, though, that Butler was among the first high-majors to recognize his play and begin to recruit him.

The Dawgs offered him a scholarship in September 2019 and hosted him for a visit shortly after. Recruiting analyst Brian Snow also indicated that Barnhizer came close to committing after that visit. Considering Barnhizer is a local product, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that he has visited Hinkle Fieldhouse on several occasions over the past year. That includes being in attendance for Kamar Baldwin’s buzzer-beating heroics against Villanova.

Butler is far from the only high-major program interested in potentially landing Barnhizer, though. I interviewed the talented shooting guard in early April and he mentioned that Butler, Xavier, Western Kentucky, Northwestern, and Ball State have been prioritizing him most to this point in his recruitment (full article) He has also received interest from Louisville, although he is yet to receive an offer.

When it comes to his play on the court, Barnhizer makes multi-faceted impacts. He can shoot it from beyond the arc, take it to the basket, create for others, and he also rebounds well for his position. He was the star player for Lafayette Jeff during his junior season and statistics back up his excellent play. Barnhizer finished the campaign with averages of 20.8 points (.565/.445/.779), 9.5 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 2.3 steals, and 1.7 blocks per game.
