Northwestern Basketball: Wildcats 2019-20 season review
By Karl Heiser
Northwestern Basketball 2020-21 Preview
Northwestern will lose just two seniors for next season as Pat Spencer and A.J. Turner graduate from the program. As of now, no current players have indicated a desire to transfer. Top scorer Miller Kopp and top rebounder Ryan Young are both set to return.
Two three-star recruits will join the Wildcat roster as combo guard Ty Berry and center Matt Nicholson both signed letters of intent. Berry is a 6’3″ playmaker with a smooth jumper and quality passing ability that make him the second-best recruit from the state of Kansas per 247’s rankings. He should be a major asset for Northwestern next season.
Nicholson is a 7-footer from Michigan who may get some run in the Wildcat rotation given the relative inexperience of their frontcourt. He was Chris Collins’ first commitment in the 2020 class and had received offers from Creighton and Toledo among others. He is ranked by 247 as the 6th-best recruit from his state and his size should be a great help to Northwestern as they look to strengthen their work on the boards.
While Northwestern will return most of their roster from this past season, the Big Ten certainly isn’t getting any easier. With the development of their young core, expect the Wildcats to be more competitive and at best jump up a spot in the conference standings, but not go any further than that.
