Why you should know Perry

Perry is a hometown kid who is originally from Orlando, which is just a short drive away from the Stetson campus in DeLand, FL. Perry was a decorated high school player and garnered second-team all-state recognition while playing for one of the top 25 ranked programs, Oak Ridge, in high school. Perry decided to better hone his game at the 4A sports Academy in Orlando. He was then found by Stetson, and as a 2-star recruit was not heralded by any means.

When the season rolled along Perry showed he was the furthest thing from an unheralded 2-star recruit and was working his way into a bonafide star in the Atlantic Sun Conference. In his second career college game and first against a Division 1 opponent, Western Illinois, the guard showed he was going to be a great player in this league and someone to take notice of. He went off for 34 points against the Leathernecks.

He would turn that game along with a 29-point performance against UNC-Asheville to averages of 15 points per game. To go along with his 15 points, he also contributed five rebounds and two assists. Those numbers were good enough to earn him All conference and All freshman honors. Perry was also awarded Freshman of the Year honors in the conference.

In the huge win against South Carolina, one that many have said was a program defining and potential program changing win, Perry went for 13 points which were below his average, but he was deadly from beyond the arc in that game. He also played great defense and was a huge catalyst in the Hatters pulling out that win. Perry is a guy who is a joy to watch play basketball and exploded onto the scene for a team that no one expected anything out of.

The guard has Stetson in a good position to improve on their record from last year. The only difference for Perry going into season two is he won’t be a secret anymore he is going to get the best of every team he faces every night. Given how Perry performed this year the sophomore is going to be up to the challenge.
