SeBastian Townes, Forward

Coming as somewhat of a sleeper pick, SeBastian Townes might not attract as much attention as he deserves after averaging less than two points per game last season for Bryant. However, Townes played only 10 games during this year’s difficult campaign, even battling injuries when doing so. But when playing healthy just a year prior, Townes averaged 15.1 points and 4.9 rebounds per game, offering hope that perhaps his lackluster 2019-2020 campaign came as just an unfortunate, injury-driven fluke.

When judging Townes on his earlier seasons, it is no fluke however to expect more high scoring outputs from him while maintaining a strong presence on the block. With a 255 pound and 6’5 stature accompanied by an adequate jump shot, Townes certainly possesses the tools necessary to succeed once more at the collegiate level.

But with a tough stat following this year now joining his ongoing injury concerns to form a dark cloud above his head, Townes continues to fly somewhat under the radar, especially for a player who averaged over 15 points a game not too long ago. Not to mention, the league’s eligibility rules which await a potential change might give reason for more programs to target more prominent players who might soon earn immediate eligibility, rather than turn their attention towards redshirt seniors like Townes.

While you still cannot ignore his recent numbers, Townes’s core skills make him a reward equally as high as his risk. He might not make headlines now, but watch out for Townes to potentially earn back some attention once next year tips off.
