Adam Miller (Chicago, IL)

SG | 6-foot-3 | 170 lbs | No. 33 overall

Adam Miller only recently signed his National Letter of Intent on April 22nd, and Illinois fans breathed a sigh of relief in response. The fringe five-star prospect is the top player in this recruiting class and has the makings of an immediate impact go-to player for the Illini. This will be especially important if the team winds up losing proven star guard Ayo Dosunmu to the NBA, which could easily occur in the coming months (he has currently declared w/o an agent).

In terms of roster construction, it is likely that Miller will immediately snag a starting spot as one of the team’s top scorers next season. Even though he is a tad undersized for the “2”, Miller is a dynamic self-creator with the ability to fill it up effectively at all three levels. His pull-up jumper is excellent, he has plenty of bounce at the rim, and can be a reliable (albeit not elite) defender.

Perhaps most importantly for his freshman season, Miller can add an immediate shooting punch to an Illini team that shot poorly from beyond the arc during this past campaign. With Alan Griffin leaving this offseason, Illinois already lost arguably its best shooter this offseason and that makes the addition of Miller’s shooting all the more important for the team’s success in 2020-21. He has incredibly deep range and the confidence to let shots fly at high volumes.

Miller is the type of flamethrowing lefty scorer that can be mesmerizing to watch and that is evidenced by his high recruiting ranking in the class. He should be a difference-maker right away.

It is also important to mention that Miller is a product of Morgan Park H.S. in Chicago. Not only does this make him an excellent in-state snag for head coach Brad Underwood but he is also now the second consecutive highly-regarded commit from that program. Current star (and potential returning junior) Ayo Dosunmu also played at Morgan Park, as does 2021 four-star target Brandon Weston.

Way-too-early Top 25 for 2020-21. dark. Next

That concludes this look at Illinois’s extremely fun and loaded 2020 recruiting class. This trio of commits is highly ranked and sets the tone for a solid future in Champaign. Head coach Brad Underwood definitely appears to have this program trending in the right direction towards consistently contending in the Big Ten.
