NCAA Basketball: Top 10 returning players for 2020-21 season
By William Cash
7. Jalen Crutcher (Dayton)
Crutcher averaged 15 points, three rebounds, and four assists on 46% shooting and 42% from three. Now you could say he got open looks from Obi Toppin which most likely did help. But I think Crutcher will improve next year. Every shooting stat from his sophomore to junior year went up majorly. He shot 41% from the field his sophomore year and that improved to 46%, his three-point percentage went up from 36% to 42%, and his free throw percentage shot up from 70% to 86% from the free throw line.
Crutcher already has some impressive accolades in his career. He was third-team All-A-10 in his sophomore year and this year shot up to first-team All-A-10 this year. With national Player of the Year Toppin leaving for the NBA Draft, I think it’s very fair to say that Crutcher will become the number one option for Dayton next year.
And with the already huge jumps in his stats from last year to this year, I think it’s very fair to say Crutcher could do that again. With being the number one option Crutcher stats are bound to go up. With Crutcher leading the charge at Dayton, the Flyers should still be a mid-major team to look out for in 2021.
