2014 – Lawrence Alexander, 12 North Dakota State vs Oklahoma, 1st Round

This is sort of a forgotten gem of an underdog performance in a first-round upset. Alexander scored 28 points on 10-15 shooting and added eight rebounds and four assists, all team highs, to give NDS their first-ever NCAA Tournament win.

2014 – Adreian Payne, 4 Michigan State vs 13 Delaware, 1st Round

Similarly to his teammate Draymond Green’s performance on this list, the stakes weren’t very high for this game. But 41 points in the NCAA Tournament is hard to ignore, no matter who the opponent is.

 2014 – Doug McDermott, 3 Creighton vs 14 Louisiana, 1st Round

Unfortunately, the McDermott’s never went on a run through the tournament in their time together at Creighton. This game was Doug’s high point, pouring in 30 points on 13-23 shooting and grabbing 12 rebounds.

2014 – Shabazz Napier, 7 UConn vs 8 Kentucky, National Championship

Like Cardiac Kemba three years earlier, Shabazz followed in his teammate’s footsteps by leading UConn to a national title with an insane stretch of performances. These weren’t his best single-game numbers for the tournament (He averaged 23-6-4-2 over the five games), but it was his top performance in leading UConn through this sluggish championship game.

2014 – DeAndre Kane, 3 Iowa State vs 6 North Carolina, 2nd Round

Kane’s lone season in Iowa State was underrated. The guard went for 24 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists to lead his team in all three categories in the win over UNC.
