With both Trendon Watford and Emmitt Williams likely staying in the NBA Draft, that means LSU won’t have their top three scorers for next season. To make up for that, the Tigers brought in a top-5 recruiting class, led by five-star prospect guard Cameron Thomas. Four-stars Mwani Wilkinson and Eric Gaines are going to play a big role, along with transfer forwards Josh Leblanc and Shareef O’Neal, whenever they’re able to play.
LSU would like to have Brown join top-35 prospect Jerrell Colbert in the 2021 class. With both Ja’vonte Smart and Darius Days possibly around for what would be their senior seasons, the Tigers could be in for a special campaign if Brown joins. And outside of Wilkinson, there are no projected true wing players on the 2021-22 roster. The Wake Forest guard could not only be part of a very talented roster by also have a real role in it.
The one concern I would have is any possible sanctions coming from the NCAA regarding the FBI Investigation into “Pay for Play” allegations. Other programs have already received “notice of allegations” and head coach Will Wade is one of the faces from the who saga. The coronavirus has delayed everything but the Tigers aren’t completely in the clear from the NCAA. And if anything were to happen, it’ll likely involve the 2021-22 season, when Brown would be eligible.

Again, this is all dependent on Brown having to sit out next season. If he somehow gets a waiver, look for both Illinois and LSU to be the heavy favorites. If I had to take a guess, I think the Tigers have an edge in this recruitment. But you never know how things end in the daily saga of the offseason transfer portal.
