6. South Florida Bulls

Key Losses: Laquincy Rideau

Key Returners: David Collins (?), Alexis Yetna, Justin Brown

Potential Impact Newcomer: Caleb Murphy

Breakout Candidate: Xavier Castaneda

South Florida got the wind knocked out of them before last season even started when Alexis Yetna was ruled out with a season-ending injury, I think he makes a huge difference for USF. Yetna averaged 12 points and 9 rebounds per game as a freshman and USF won 24 games. If David Collins comes back I don’t see why they can’t replicate that success.

Despite the loss of Rideau, the Bulls have some good guard depth with Castaneda and Zach Dawson. Their frontcourt of Alexis Yetna and Michael Durr will be one of the best in the league. There’s potential with this Bulls team.

South Florida was great defensively giving up just 62.7 points per game last season. They struggled to create offense outside of Collins. With Yetna back and able to stretch the floor, guys should have an easier time getting good looks. They’ll need some guys to make some big jumps this summer and bench players to step up and be contributors.

The main question mark for the South Florida offense right now is David Collins but I have a hard time seeing him staying in the draft this year. But, if he doesn’t come back South Florida might struggle a little bit more if things fall in the right place the Bulls could easily be a challenger in the AAC this season if they manage to stay healthy.
