Baylor Bears

Williams is from the Houston area, which makes Baylor the “hometown” option on this list. They also look to be the best team as well, viewed as a consensus preseason top-5 program for 2020-21. That is, as long as guards Jared Butler and MaCio Teague each return from the NBA Draft. But even if one of them leaves, the Bears have plenty of perimeter depth leftover to be more than a threat.

They’re also solid in the frontcourt, with big men Mark Vital and Tristan Clark coming back for one more year. But neither of them are great scorers and have the offensive capabilities of a Williams. In fact, only back wing/forward Matthew Mayer currently can score outside of the guards. With All-Big 12 forward Freddie Gillespie now gone, Williams could come in and provide some explosiveness for them out the gate.

Another reason why Williams should choose the Bears is just in case he has to sit out another season. It would be awful for the player in the short-term but could greatly benefit the Evansville forward in the long run. Head coach Scott Drew has an excellent history with sit-out transfers, developing them in the year off before watching them excel on the court later. Williams could be an even better player for 2021-22 if that was an option, although the age may have it out of the question.
