Baylor Basketball: 2019-20 season review of the Bears
By Dave Ackert
Early look at next season
Whether or not Jared Butler and MaCio Teague return to campus or commit to the NBA Draft will have gigantic implications on where the Bears will sit in preseason rankings. So, we’ll have to wait for that news in order to completely break down the 2020-21 roster. But here’s what we know so far…
Freddie Gillespie, Devonte Bandoo and Obim Okeke will officially be leaving.
Mark Vital announced on Twitter that he will be coming back, “To win champs””.
Davion Mitchell, Matthew Mayer, Tristan Clark and Flo Thamba are the rest of the top players returning from 2019-20.
Adam Flagler, Jonathan Tchamwa Tchatchoua and Jordan Turner will be joining the lineup from transferring and/or redshirting, etc.
And that leaves the 2020 recruiting class of: Dain Dainja, LJ Cryer and Zach Loveday.
If Butler and Teague choose to return, there will not be many teams, if any, that will look better on paper than the Baylor Bears. And let me tell you this if Tristan Clark returns to what we saw in 2018-19 I will again pick them to win the Big 12 title.
Not only that but with all this returning talent and depth, I could almost guarantee that at some point in the 2020-21 season this team will spend multiple weeks as the best team in college basketball.
I’ll have a full breakdown of the 2020-21 lineup and team’s potential once the roster is set.
Sic ’Em Bears!
