NCAA Basketball: 10 schools looking for new face of program for 2020-21
Seton Hall Pirates – Myles Powell
The 2020 Big East Player of the Year award went to Seton Hall’s senior guard, Myles Powell, and for good reason. The 6-2 native of Trenton, New Jersey led his team in scoring, pouring in 21 per game, his 2.9 assists were second on the team and he also pulled down over four rebounds per game. Powell was a volume scorer, having taken nearly 500 shots last season, but Powell is now off to the professional ranks and those shoes are going to be filled by someone, but more accurately, by more than one person.
Those shoes could be filled by a couple of players. Highly-touted grad transfer Bryce Aiken comes to Kevin Willard’s squad after leading the Harvard Crimson in scoring last season at 16.7 is likely to get a lot of attention. If you are looking for someone already on the roster, that guy might be 6-6 Jared Rhoden who averaged nine points and 6.4 rebounds as a sophomore.
Offensively he showed development in his game as both his field-goal and three-point percentages jumped up nearly 10 points from his freshman season. He is a player who, with continued development could be someone the Pirates can build around over the next two seasons.
