Radford Highlanders – Carlik Jones

Over the past four seasons, Mike Jones the head coach of the Radford Highlanders has built a juggernaut for teams to contend with in the Big South. In the last three seasons, Radford has won either a Big South regular-season title or in 2018, the Big South Tournament title, and a big reason for that was the emergence of star guard Carlik Jones who was a double-digit scorer from the moment he stepped on campus.

Last season, Jones averaged 20 points, dished out 5.5 assists, and at 6-1, grabbed five rebounds per game. This offseason, Jones decided to transfer as a graduate student and landed himself with Chris Mack and the Louisville Cardinals.

With not much left in the cupboard for head coach Mike Jones, as the team’s top eight scorers will not be with Radford next season, looking for someone to be the new face of Radford basketball may be tough. That role will likely be filled by a newcomer to the team, and one player to look at is 6-9 sophomore forward Dravon Magnum who is eligible after sitting out last season when he transferred from Charlotte. As a freshman, he started 13 games for the 49ers averaging 4.8 points and 2.6 rebounds, but on a new team without a ton of experience, Magnum will have a chance to show what he can do.
