Oregon State Beavers – Tres Tinkle

Often times when one hears of a coach’s son playing on his team, the player doesn’t have very much impact. Oregon State may be the exception to that rule with head coach Wayne Tinkle’s son Tres, who starred for the Beavers for the last four years. From the moment he arrived, Tres proved to be a player that could do a little bit of everything for Oregon State.

By the time Tinkle ended his final regular season, the 6-7 forward led the team in points (18.5), rebounds (6.8), steals (1.7), and his 3.2 assists were second on the team. Replacing that kind of versatility that Tinkle provided could be a difficult task, but there is a new face coming to Corvallis that has the chance to do just that.

With his son gone, Coach Tinkle is welcoming another versatile guard to his program. Tariq Silver is a 6-5 guard who attended Tallahassee Community College last season. He averaged 12 points, over four rebounds and 1.8 assists and shot 46% from the three-point line. Silver began his college career at Eastern Michigan where he redshirted and then played in 22 games in 2019. While he is a couple of inches shorter, Silver can bring Oregon State the same kind of versatility that Tinkle has brought to the program over the last four seasons.
