East Tennessee State Buccaneers

It makes sense for Hodges to consider his options after the coaching change but it makes just as much sense for the guard to back to the Bucs. First and most important is the fact that he won’t have to sit a season to play and he would get his degree from the school he originally started with.

ETSU also represents possibly the best chance for the guard to win at a high level. The team does lose leading scorer Tray Boyd but returns a number of pieces from the 30-win team, along with a number of eligible transfers that’ll make them the preseason favorite to win the SoCon next year. It would be a better situation than playing for a lower-level power conference team or risking playing just 10 mpg somewhere else.

Georgetown Hoyas

Even though Jahvon Blair and Jamorko Pickett are coming back for one more year, the Hoyas are going to need to find a capable guard for the 2021-22 season, preferably a veteran. Like Butler, this is a team that’ll be going under a ton of roster turnover, which provides Hodges will both plenty of available minutes and risking being at a losing situation.

What makes this an intriguing potential pairing is that Hodge’s style is what head coach Patrick Ewing loves. A hard-nosed and aggressive two-way athlete with a chip on his shoulder, he’d help with the culture and attitude of the program. They’re in need of a sit-out transfer so why not make the effort to see if he’s interested?
