NC State Wolfpack

NC State had impressive guard depth in the past couple of years but after next season (Devon Daniels and Braxton Beverly will graduate) will have to reload. Coach Kevin Keatts brings in plenty of transfers so a player like Hodges wouldn’t be a surprise addition at all. And with incoming freshman Josh Hall off to the NBA, minutes will definitely be available on the guard line for the Wolfpack.

The team does have 2021 guard commit Terquavion Smith already on board but they’ll want an experienced guard in the rotation, one that’ll help improve their below-average team defense. Hodges could be a double-digit scorer and effective rotation piece for NC State if that’s an option.

Mississippi State Bulldogs

A ton of production is gone from Mississippi State, who hopes to avoid a major step back with the addition of grad transfer wing Jalen Johnson from Louisiana. The tricky part of this is the trio of incoming 6’6 wings in this team’s recruiting class, with a logjam in the same area as Hodges. There’s also sophomore guard D.J. Stewart, a rising star in the SEC.

What none of them have is a high-level experience or even the defensive ability as Hodges. And being in the SEC, adding as much talent as possible is important if you’re going to be a top-tier team. Hodges would help shore up the backcourt in the following season and would only be around for a year, allowing a prime 2022 guard to take over.
