North Carolina Tar Heels

North Carolina is fresh off landing a tremendous 2020 recruiting class filled with pieces that could either be one-and-dones or make multi-year impacts in Chapel Hill. Even though the program struggled during this past season, it seems likely that the Tar Heels will be back among the nation’s best as early as this fall with their strong influx of talent.

Head coach Roy Williams has a great reputation both on the recruiting trail and with regard to putting together championship-caliber rosters. He has also sent his fair share of talent to the NBA in recent years, including Justin Jackson and Cameron Johnson, both of whom are made in a somewhat similar mold as Baldwin with their big frames and elite shooting ability. Coach Williams has shown he understands how to utilize those types of players.

Baldwin has also already taken an unofficial to North Carolina, which could be an edge over some of the other programs previously mentioned (he has visited the next three as well).

Milwaukee Panthers

Milwaukee is not a traditional destination for five-star recruits but Patrick Baldwin Jr.’s father is the head coach of the program. Do not get it twisted, though – Milwaukee’s inclusion on this list is not just a good-natured gesture – the program is a very legitimate contender to potentially land his commitment. While not many elite talents have chosen to play at the mid-major level over bluebloods, Baldwin appears to have a great relationship with his dad.

In an interview with Rivals’ Corey Evans, Baldwin talked about that relationship at length and Milwaukee’s involvement in his recruitment. He has obviously visited Milwaukee on many occasions and is in contact with the coaching staff…I would assume daily.

If Baldwin were to choose Milwaukee, he would instantly become arguably the most intriguing player to follow in the 2021 class. He would be an absolute star in the Horizon League and could help to revive a Panthers’ program that has struggled over the past several seasons. He might even be able to help recruit fellow highly-rated players to join him and form a stud freshmen class for the program.
