Regardless of how many players the Bulldogs lose to the draft — it could be three starters, namely Filip Petrusev, Corey Kispert and Joel Ayayi, or none of them — they’re still likely going to be expected to run the table in WCC play. Why? Because the recruiting class coming in is arguably the best in program history.

Jalen Suggs (No. 1 overall 2020 PG in most recruiting rankings) looks more and more like he is going to be a Zag by the day, especially considering that the possibility of going overseas is diminished due to current events. But until he is on campus in the fall, it will remain a possibility.

Regardless, Julian Strawther and Dominick Harris ensure that Mark Few will have a wealth of talent to choose from with or without Suggs.

Grad transfer Aaron Cook (15 points, 3 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game last season at Southern Illinois) will play a big role if either Ayayi or Kispert leave, and a healthy Anton Watson and eligible Oumar Ballo will both help comprise a loaded bench.

If Petrusev leaves, the two will both get more minutes — and given the tape on Watson last season and Ballo the last time he played in FIBA, that’s far from the worst thing that could happen.

The Zags continue to do what they do.
