TCU – PJ Fuller

TCU is not a problem built on offense under Jamie Dixon. His teams are always tough and focused on the defensive end of the floor. At the same time, you can’t win games if you don’t score points, and the Horned Frogs have to replace their leading scorer in Desmond Bane.

Enter 6-4 guard PJ Fuller, who was hot and cold during his freshman season. Some of that was due to his youth and some of that was due to the time it took for him to learn Dixon’s defense (and for Dixon to trust Fuller on that end), but he gradually saw his minutes increase as the season went on and ultimately earned a starting spot down the stretch.

Fuller was one of the most prized scorers in the 2019 recruiting class thanks to this ability to get to the rim and a solid jumper that was effective, but inconsistent. The Seattle native certainly showed that inconsistency, shooting 37.1 percent from the floor and 25.4 percent from three, but he also flashed his scoring prowess.

That prowess was on full display in TCU’s upset win over Baylor when Fuller had 21 points to lead the Horned Frogs.

TCU needs more scoring punch without Bane and Fuller has the skill set to give it to them. He’ll have the opportunity to and, if he can keep his turnovers down and defensive intensity up, he could become an All-Big 12 caliber player.
