NCAA Basketball: 8 programs landing highest-ranked recruit in history
Florida State – Scottie Barnes
"“He’s extremely versatile. He can play four different positions. He’ll definitely be playing a lot of point guard for us. And he’s capable and versatile enough to play 1 through 4, offensively and defensively.” – Leonard Hamilton, FSU Head Coach"
FSU has been on a run of talented college teams since 2017. Their intense defense and high motor play pushed them through the ACC gauntlet and to their first regular-season conference championship in history.
Of the 2020 class, there’s no player that fits their playstyle more than 5-star forward Scottie Barnes. At 6-8, with one of the most versatile games coming into college ranks, he’ll produce based on effort and energy alone. His passing, motor, and ability to play any position in the frontcourt practically make him Leonard Hamilton’s ideal player.
Draft experts project the Florida native to need just one year in Tallahassee and that might be all it takes for. Barnes isn’t FSU’s first 5-star recruit, though it has been a while since Johnathan Isaac wore the garnett and gold. If this highly touted soon to be freshman can mirror the former Seminoles production and stay healthy, expect big things from the young man.
