NCAA Basketball: 8 programs landing highest-ranked recruit in history
Arizona State – Joshua Christopher
Josh Christopher decided a stop in Tempe suited him more than one in Ann Arbor, to the dismay of Michigan fans abroad. Having a sibling already on the roster sweetens the pot that ASU stewed years in advance. The 10th ranked 2020 recruit is not only the school’s top recruit but joins Marcus Bagley, another top tier player in the country.
Christopher’s new school seems to have broken through under the helm of Bobby Hurley. Riding the wave of back-to-back NCAA tournament berths, they’ll look to snatch a first-round win something they’ve missed out on since 2009.
The Sun Devils aren’t new to bringing in top recruits. James Harden is an alum of the school and a top 15 recruit in 2007. But in all-time rankings, the NBA MVP is just a few spots below Christopher, another 6-5 jumbo guard with a high ceiling.
Two weeks before Christopher’s pledge, ASU lost lead guard Remy Martin to the draft. ASU’s newest signee won’t replace Martin’s facilitation of the offense, 4 assist a game, but they will ask him to make a lion’s share of his 19 points per game hole. Don’t be surprised if the energetic two-way player has a lot of influence among the team’s leadership. Plus, he’s been granted access to lucky number 13 by James Harden himself.
