Ole Miss – Matthew Murrell

Ole Miss suffered its first losing season since 2018 last year as it fell to 15-17. Before 2019’s 42 ranked recruiting enrolled, the program hadn’t brought in a group that ranks in the top 50 since 2013. We’re a long way from the big 2012 class the year right before Marshall Henderson’s debut.

With 3 trips to the NCAA tournament in the past decade including their most recent in 2019 they’ve somehow delivered Matthew Murrell the 38th ranked player in the nation. Before the selection, the school’s best-known recruit, Reginald Buckner, registered as the 54th most eligible recruit in 2009.

Murrell will come into a team loaded at the guard position even with senior Breein Tyree graduating and Dovantae Shuler testing his NBA chances. Prototypical size and a two-way doggedness about himself, we’re looking at another freshman that could make waves whenever the season starts.

Joining Murrell in Oxford are Marcus Niblack and transfers Dimencio Vaughn and Robert Allen. Allen the forward out of Samford comes with an impressive career average of 12 and 7. Vaughn brings a 15 point per game scoring punch to go along with his above-average 6.6 rebounds.
