NCAA Basketball: 10 teams who should target Purdue transfer Nojel Eastern
Alabama Crimson Tide
There are few head coaches who have done as much with guards and wings (outside of one and dones) in the past few years as head coach Nate Oats. He’s worked and developed with Jaden Shackelford, John Petty, Kira Lewis Jr., C.J. Massinburg and Jeremy Harris. If the pros is the ultimate goal, spending a year sitting out and then another playing for one of the top-scoring offenses in the country.
Eastern would also provide his elite defensive skills to the Crimson Tide, who ranked right at the bottom of every category in that area in the SEC. There also likely will be a need for him on the wings, with Shakelford and potentially five-star guard Josh Primo going pro after next season.
Cincinnati Bearcats
The absence of former AAC Player of the Year and do-it-all guard Jarron Cumberland will be felt this upcoming season for a Bearcats team that can at times struggle to score overall. With the team’s top produces all being upperclassmen, a new wave of players will have to produce to keep them near the top of the conference.
Cincy did add Michigan sit-out transfer guard David Dejulius and unless former top-50 guard Zach Harvey has a breakout sophomore campaign, they could use a wing that can also provide some passing and strong defense. Eastern may not be the scorer that they need but he does fit their system overall.
