12. Kansas Jayhawks: Gethro Muscadin

This is Kansas Basketball‘s first entry on this list, the next one, is not for a while.  Similar to how Loveday is going to have trouble playing center at 215 pounds, at 6’10 and 215 pounds Gethro Muscadin is not going to be logging heavy minutes either. Although, his path to the starting line-up is wider than Loveday’s.

The Kansas Jayhawks ended another season as Big 12 regular season champions and had hopes of making a Final Four run. Entering the 2020-21 season the Jayhawks’ starting five will have three notable subtractions. Despite the ‘Notice of Allegations” from the NCAA being a cloud above Coach Self’s head, Coach Self does not have to worry about replacing Devon Dotson (more later) and maybe even Udoka Azubuike.

Rivals.com has Muscadin ranked 134 overall and if his performance while playing at Aspire Academy is any indication, he will be able to get minutes at the center and power forward positions. While at Aspire, Muscadin went through long stretches on the court when he was not active in the offensive play. Although not a primary scoring option, it did give him the opportunity to be active on the boards and he was always around the offensive boards.

Despite his light frame he is aggressive and makes contact while boxing out, Coach Self could choose to slide  6’10, 265 pound David McCormack to center. Of course, if they play Baylor and  Loveday at the center, Muscadin will get some minutes.
